On 18 February 2023, a commencement service was held at the International Baptist Church to kickstart the GoForth National Missions Conference 2023. Organised by the Evangelical Alliance of Singapore and Singapore Baptist Convention and supported by over 200 partners, over 300 people from Anglican, Baptist, Methodist, Independent, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Lutheran, and Catholic denominations joined the service.
The commencement service started with a time of prayer and worship, followed by an opening address by Rev Edwin Lam, Chairman of Singapore Baptist Convention and Co-Chairman of GoForth 2023. Rev Dr Elijah Brown, General Secretary/CEO of Baptist World Alliance, delivered a word of greetings as well as prayed for this year’s steering committee.
GoForth is a National Missions Movement that encourages Christians to arise and fulfil the Great Commission, wherever they may be. The theme for GoForth 2023 is Missions in the New Norm: Unite to Accomplish the Mandate, encouraging Christians to live out their God-given mission and call in a world that is constantly changing.
For this 7th instalment of GoForth, a new format was introduced, comprising of a year-long campaign with a series of inspiring programmes from 8 different tracks with a missional emphasis, which were officially launched at this commencement service.

- Migrants by caring for the foreigners in our nation
- Marginalised by empowering the vulnerable through collective efforts
- Marketplace by advocating for Biblical values in public spheres

- Mandarin-speaking Communities by engaging language groups with God’s Word
- Media by integrating missions across communication platforms
- Metaverse by using emerging digital media for God’s purposes
A closing service will be held on 18 November 2023 to gather participants for a time of convergence and as we usher in the next Decade of Mission from 2023 to 2033.
